Andrew Manaylo "Midnight Jazz"
Abstract Painting Series

"In Midnight Jazz, I paint not the music itself, but the feeling it leaves behind when the last note fades into the night." – Andrew Manaylo Professional Review: "Midnight Jazz" is an expressive abstract painting series by Andrew Manaylo that captures the rhythm, chaos, and emotional resonance of jazz music as it echoes through nocturnal cityscapes. Deeply rooted in his Carpatho-Ruthenian heritage, Manaylo blends spontaneous gestural brushwork with sophisticated color harmonies to explore the improvisational nature of sound and memory. The series evokes the energy of Manhattan after dark – where ancient cultural echoes meet the pulse of modernity – translated into visual compositions that are both lyrical and raw. Each canvas becomes a stage for movement and mood, where colors clash and harmonize like the instruments of a jazz ensemble, creating a dynamic interplay between structure and spontaneity. Manaylo’s Midnight Jazz paintings are not literal interpretations but emotional transcriptions, fusing cultural memory with the universal language of music. Earthy tones of umber and gold are set against sharp blacks and greys, suggesting the duality of light and shadow, tradition and experimentation. The textured layers and gestural forms suggest both architectural rhythm and human expression, inviting viewers into a sensorial experience beyond the purely visual. Presented at leading international art fairs, this series stands as a compelling testament to contemporary abstraction infused with depth, identity, and improvisational spirit.." – Noble Art Nexus

Andrew Manaylo
"Grace and Power" Art Series

"In creating the 'Grace and Power' series, I was driven by a fascination with the dual nature of horses – their gentle elegance juxtaposed against their overwhelming strength. Each painting is a homage to the spirit of these magnificent animals, reflecting the awe they inspire through their presence and movement. This series is my artistic exploration into the essence of what makes horses both enchanting and formidable. It is a celebration of their influence on human emotion and the universal beauty they represent." – Andrew Manaylo Professional Review: "Grace and Power" is a captivating series of horse paintings by Andrew Manaylo, each pulsating with the visceral energy and majestic poise of its subjects. Manaylo masterfully blends vivid colors with dynamic brushstrokes to evoke both the physical prowess and the serene composure inherent in these noble creatures. His modern impressionistic style allows for an exploration of motion that is as fluid as it is fierce, making each horse appear to gallop beyond the canvas's confines. The series not only celebrates the athletic grace of horses but also delves into the deeper, almost spiritual connection between humans and these animals. The paintings vary in mood and color palette, ranging from the tranquility of muted pastels to the intensity of bold primaries, reflecting the spectrum of emotions that horses elicit from their admirers. Manaylo’s ability to capture these moments of beauty and power in such vivid detail places him among the notable contemporary artists in equestrian art." – Noble Art Nexus

"Elegy of Motion" Art Series

"In creating the 'Elegy of Motion' series, I was drawn to the profound emotional spectrum that ballet encompasses. Each painting is an exploration into the soul of the dancer, portrayed through vigorous colors and deliberate strokes that speak to the heart's rhythm. My inspiration stemmed from witnessing the powerful yet graceful expressions of ballet dancers, where every leap and turn embodies a story of passion, turmoil, and tranquility. This series is my ode to the art of ballet, capturing its fleeting beauty and the eternal messages it conveys through the language of the body." – Andrew Manaylo Professional Review: "The "Elegy of Motion" series by Andrew Manaylo captures the ballet's world through a lens of intense emotion and refined grace. Each painting is a testament to the complex relationship between movement and the feelings it evokes. Manaylo uses a blend of stormy and calm elements to illustrate the dancer's fluid motion as an emotional whirlwind, each stroke of the brush bringing the dance's inner tempests and quiet moments to life. His use of vibrant, contrasting colors – ranging from gold to deep reds – highlights the dynamic movements and depth of emotions that define ballet. The series not only explores the physical expressions of ballet dancers but also delves deep into the psychological and emotional states that these movements represent, rendering each performance as an individual narrative of struggle, peace, and ultimate harmony." – Noble Art Nexus

Genesis: Philosophical Reflections and Symbolic Art

Interviewer: Zsanett M. Ritli / Noble Art Nexus

Interviewer: Andrew Manaylo, the essence of your Genesis series seems to be your metaphysical exploration of human existence and development. Can you expound on that?

Andrew Manaylo: Absolutely. These paintings are the culmination of lengthy and profound philosophical ruminations on our being's fundamental essence. I have always been propelled by waves of emotion to delve deeper into the vast sea of colors and textures. It's like navigating a ship in open waters; symbols surround me, but my instinct acts as a firm steering wheel, guiding me beyond the surface aesthetics.

Interviewer: There's a musicality to your work that's quite fascinating, almost as if your painting is a form of composition. Can you talk about that?

Andrew Manaylo: Yes, painting for me is akin to playing an instrument, say, a harp. The strings, or in my case, the colors, resonate with qualities such as mystery and intimacy. My paintings serve to construct a sense of reverence for the unconscious's vast ocean.

Interviewer: Nikita D. Lobanov-Rostovsky, an advisor to Christie's and Sotheby's and a life member of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Union of Benefactors, has referred to your brushwork as "feverish" and "fast and energetic." Can you discuss the impact of your personal experiences and emotions on your artistic process?

Andrew Manaylo: My painting is a deeply personal endeavor; the experiences and emotions seep out through the bold and effusive brush strokes. There's an inherent rhythm that guides my work, creating an engaging and evocative dynamic that illuminates my canvas with a multitude of colored reflections. This rhythm, this urgency, springs from the creative impulse within me.

Interviewer: Lobanov-Rostovsky also alluded to the "thin layer of the matrix of life" in your work. Can you elaborate on the significance of this concept in your art, particularly in the Genesis series?

Andrew Manaylo: In the context of modern philosophy, technology, and human progress, our understanding of life's objectivity and subjectivity is constantly evolving. My work, specifically the Genesis series, reflects this flux. It is my reaction to the new vibrations of the Earth's energetic field, portraying the shifts in life's thin matrix layer. This process involves a deep understanding of the environment we live in and the reality we inhabit.

Interviewer: And how would you say your earlier creative periods have influenced this series?

Andrew Manaylo: The seeds of this series were sown during my earlier artistic phases. My inquisitive approach to the world, the search for essence rather than external reality, resulted in expressive interpretations filled with symbolism. This symbolism forms a significant part of my artistic language. In the Genesis series, I have maintained this symbolic connection.

Interviewer: Speaking of symbolism, could you delve into the role of symbols in your Genesis series, such as the explosion, the apples, and the computer elements?

Andrew Manaylo: The explosion signifies the raw energy of the initial chaos, the "Big Bang" that created the prerequisites for life. The apples symbolize the beginning of human history on Earth, a nod to the Renaissance masters' symbolism. Their number—four—hints at life's organized rhythm. This figure signifies reliability, strength, wisdom, and a faith in humanity's bright future. The geometric elements in my work resonate with Suprematism's symbolism and allude to modern computer circuitry, thus symbolizing our current era of digital life. These three components form the basis of the Genesis: an explosion, an apple, and computer elements.

Interviewer: I noticed the striking presence of energetic strokes and spots, specific color palettes, and flickering lines in your work. Can you elaborate on your technical choices?

Andrew Manaylo: The energetic strokes represent the explosive energy, with black and white nuance color combinations forming a background with a diverse compositional rhythm. I use shades of blue and brown to symbolize Earth's basic natural elements. I also use red, green, and yellow to balance the composition and harmonize the color palette. Each of these colors carries specific symbolism: red for love and passion, green for the purity of nature, and yellow for divine power.

Interviewer: Finally, could you tell us about the innovative technical medium of your work?

Andrew Manaylo: Indeed, I experiment boldly with non-traditional technology that meets modern artistic trends. Instead of painting on canvas, I use plexiglass or aluminum panels - as a base for painting with acrylic and oil paints. Some Genesis paintings feature a mirror-shiny surface, thanks to a transparent epoxy coating. I've also incorporated LED backlighting, controllable via a smartphone application, into all paintings in the series. This approach aligns with the latest trends in interior design and the universal digitalization of our lives.

Interviewer: Thank you, Andrew. The Genesis series is an embodiment of your creative search and philosophical reflections on our being. Your work, rich in symbolism and innovative technique, truly emphasizes your unique artistic language and style.
